Innovation in biotechnology and drug discovery used to be limited to the well-resourced hubs like Boston and San Francisco. With increasing decentralization and a desire to reduce operating costs, emerging hubs in smaller communities are becoming attractive options for those starting new biotech ventures.
To enable this trend we are helping communities be proactive in their support of local innovators. Our facilities bring all the services of a biotech hub under one roof, providing lab space, core facilities, and manufacturing services tailored to meet the changing needs of each community we serve.

Houser Labs exists to break down barriers in drug development by creating affordable, responsive infrastructure that powers innovation in biotechnology. We aim to make lifesaving therapies accessible to all by supporting researchers and organizations in emerging biotech hubs, fostering collaboration across communities, and driving down the costs of drug production. As a nonprofit, our commitment is to patient welfare and ensuring that the products we help develop and manufacture are within reach to all.
We see a future where biotechnology flourishes wherever determination and ingenuity find a home. We’re building a network of modular incubator labs and GMP production facilities designed to foster the growth of new research clusters in communities across the country. By eliminating infrastructure gaps and providing affordable drug manufacturing, we’re transforming healthcare delivery so every patient, no matter their location or financial situation, can access the treatments they need.
Our Plan for a Brighter Future
We set out initially to create a non-profit biomanufacturing company to provide easy access to high-quality material for academic researchers, small startups, and non-profits doing drug discovery research. The community of Fargo, ND seemed like a perfect home for our project, but there was one problem: almost no lab space to rent.
This is when we decided to step back and ask how we could not only grow our business here but also support and enable further growth around us. A rising tide lifts all ships, and a healthy, growing ecosystem of innovation supports everyone in the entire community.
Our flagship project, The Pharm, places everything scientists need under a single roof. This proposed dual-purpose biotech incubator and meso-scale GMP manufacturing facility provides a combination of modular, flexible, affordable lab space with the full breadth of research, development, and production resources that Houser Labs provides.
Our goal is to bring this innovation to communities across the country. Many communities just like Fargo are seeing the potential of a robust local biotechnology industry, and it is our mission to turn that potential into lasting economic development.
