A new future for biotechnology is being written in emerging hubs across the country.
Innovation in biotechnology and drug discovery used to be limited to the well-resourced hubs like Boston and San Francisco. With increasing decentralization and a desire to reduce operating costs, emerging hubs in smaller communities are becoming attractive options for those starting new biotech ventures.
To enable this trend, we are helping communities be proactive in their support of local innovators. Our facilities bring all the services of a biotech hub under one roof, providing lab space, core facilities, and manufacturing services tailored to meet the changing needs of each community we serve.
Our Mission and Vision
Houser Labs exists to break down barriers in technology development by creating affordable, responsive infrastructure that powers innovation. We aim to make these groundbreaking ideas accessible to all by supporting researchers and organizations in emerging biotech hubs, fostering collaboration across communities, and driving down the costs of production. As a nonprofit, our commitment is to stakeholders, ensuring that the products we help develop and manufacture are within reach to all.
We see a future where biotechnology flourishes wherever determination and ingenuity find a home. We’re building a network of modular incubator labs and manufacturing facilities designed to foster the growth of new research clusters in communities across the country. By eliminating infrastructure gaps and providing affordable, right-sized facilities, we’re transforming technology commercialization by allowing innovators to thrive and grow in the community they already call home.

Our Plan for a Brighter Future
The initial goal for Houser Labs was to create accessible drug discovery platforms and manufacturing infrastructure that would directly impact the cost of both blockbuster drugs and generics/biosimilars. The community of Fargo, ND seemed like a perfect home for our project, but there was one problem: almost no lab space to rent.
This is when we decided to step back and ask how we could not only grow our business here but also support and enable further growth around us. A rising tide lifts all ships, and a healthy, growing ecosystem of innovation supports everyone in the entire community.
Our flagship project in Fargo places everything scientists need under a single roof. This multi-use biotech incubator provides a combination of modular, flexible, affordable lab space with the full breadth of research, development, and production resources that Houser Labs provides. The discipline-agnostic resources can fit the needs of innovators across sectors.
Our goal is to bring this innovation to communities across the country. Many communities just like Fargo are seeing the potential of a robust local biotechnology industry, and it is our mission to turn that potential into lasting economic development.
